The educational work of the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha started with the mantras of 'Education
through self-help ' and 'Earn and Learn'.Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil turned his attention to
secondary education.
On June 20, 1940, the school was named after Maharaja Sayajirao Gaikwad, King of Baroda.
Karmaveer Anna started Rayat's first secondary school 'Free and Residential' at Satara. In the
interest of the then dutiful Collector Hameed Ali donated 10 acres of government-owned land
near Charbhinti Parisar to the organization for this school. Before the completion of the school
building, Maharaja Sayajirao Free and Residential Vidyalaya was started in the bungalow of
Maharaj Shrimant Maloji Raje Naik Nimbalkar of Phaltan, temporarily adjacent to the Collector's
residence. It was the first school to impart lessons of education and self reliance to the students.
It was open to all castes. Now a day All students are taking lessons of education and life
through Gurukul teaching method by staying with Anna's ideology.
While celebrating 'Amrit Mahotsavi year' of the school, all the staff and students are overjoyed.
Various programs were held throughout the year on the occasion of the school's'
Amrutmahotsavi Varsha (Year 2014) Various competitions, lecture series, Mahamarathon
competitions, arts, sports festivals, social and cultural programs etc. were organized. Students
are getting good education through secondary, higher secondary and vocational courses in the
school,there are 36 divisions and 4 spacious buildings of 60 classrooms for std 5th to std 12th.
During the 75 years of Maharaja Sayajirao Vidyalaya, from 1940-1994, the school was working
for enlightenment, in order to enhance the quality. Under the skillful guidance of Hon. Dr. Anil
Patil Sir (Chairman ,Rayat Shikshan Sanstha) ambitious planning of quality and quality
development program was done.
Based on,Gurukul Teaching Method Residential Gurukul Project was started in the year
1995, first in Maharaja Sayajirao Vidyalaya Satara.Gurukul project was started in residential
form. In this class today 30 boys and 20 girls are getting excellent education in 'Gurukul'
method. These students shine on the board's merit list; But at the same time, they are
developing their talents through various competitions.
Non-residential Gurukul: Like residential gurukul classes Non-residential Gurukul facility is also
provided for 5th to 10th grade. As a result of this, in the school examinations, these students are
shining more than 100 in the merit list. Along with this quality in the school, various
competitions, projects, activities,and social innovation activities are organized.
Gurukul CET: After 10th standard, meritorious students are enrolled in this college. Admission
is given in 11th fie students overall progress.expert teachers are working hard for preparation of
J.E.E, M.H. CET and competitive exams.
There are 4 spacious buildings for the school. The school has received ISO 9001-2008, the
prestigious 'Karmaveer Award', Rayat Mauli Award, Central Government's Computer Education
Award, School Grade 'A' etc.
Looking back today,many alumni have gone through MPSC, UPSC, various competitive exams,
doctors, entrepreneurs, excellent administrators etc. in their lives. Today, the success of the
school is due to the skillful guidance of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha and devoted human resources.
Maharaja Sayajirao Vidyalaya and junior college is becoming an ideal laboratory of guidance in
Maharashtra. We are very proud of this.
